Fulakunda in Senegal
The lives of the Fulakunda center around their herds of cattle or sheep, and a person's wealth is measured by how many head of livestock he owns. Although they may lack a scholarly grasp of book knowledge, they are considered skilled social analysts. Some Fulakunda elders have traveled in many countries and know the language, people, and culture of each. The Fulakunda are a Muslim people, and adhere strongly to virtues and good morals such as justice, honesty, generosity, and patience.
Ministry Obstacles
Senegal does not provide a hospitable environment for Christians coming in from outside the country.
Outreach Ideas
Christians from other West African countries may be able to help disciple the believers in Christ among the Fulakunda, as well as introduce other Fulakunda people to Christ. Pray for African Christian tribal workers to become available.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are only a handful of followers of Jesus among the Fulakunda tribe, and they very much need prayer support from outsiders. Pray they won't waver in their commitment to Christ. Pray they in all things will grow up into him who is the Head, Christ.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Fulakunda tribe will be able to prepare their children for the rapidly changing conditions of the modern world. Pray they will make schooling a priority, and that good schools will be available.
Scripture Focus
"All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before You." Psalm 22:27 |
