Allaaba in Ethiopia

Allaaba in Ethiopia
The Alaba people live on the central highlands of Ethiopia. The life style of the Alabas is very modest. Practically all the houses in the rural area are round-shaped, thatch roofed houses, made of wood and mud. They are without ceilings and have mud floors. Livestock spend the night in them together with people. 85% of the people get their drinking water from rivers and ponds by carrying it long distances. The Alabas are traditionally self-confident and very resistant to outside influence. This has kept them from modern developments and education, but this may be changing.
Ministry Obstacles
Self-confident people may not realize they are spiritually needy.
Outreach Ideas
The literacy rate is quite low. The good news of Christ needs to come in oral forms, as well as in written forms. Gospel recordings and the Jesus film are available. Pray for Ethiopian Christians to remember these people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the followers of Christ among this people will desire to follow Christ as Lord, not merely as savior. Pray for holy lives.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for schools and clinics for more villages, and wells for villages that are without drinking water.
Scripture Focus
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15
