At
least 350 people have died and more than 2,658 have been injured as
houses and buildings collapsed from a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that
struck coastal Ecuador on Saturday evening (April 16). An indigenous
ministry that Christian Aid Mission assists is in position to rapidly
provide food, clothing, clean water and other relief aid to survivors in
Pedernales, one of the worst-hit towns. Christians near Anchayacu
Mission of Ecuador, in Esmeralda, are sharing goods for initial aid, but
the ministry needs help to purchase relief items needed over the next
several weeks.
“Our
ministry has started to gather goods from local believers to take to
Pedernales, which is one of the most damaged areas,” the ministry leader
said. “If the Lord lays it on your heart to help with this outreach, it
will be a great blessing.”
