PORTLAND, OR (ANS – March 27, 2016)
-- A bullet stopped. A crashing helicopter stabilized. Generational
abuse broken. The unexpected success of an autistic boy. A son set free
from drug addiction. These are just a few of the dynamic themes captured
in a new book, Amazing Modern-Day Miracles, 52 True Stories to Strengthen Your Faith (Harvest House Publishing) compiled by first-time author Suzanne Frey.
According
to a news release, Frey realized, after being inspired by God’s
answered prayers in her own life, that too many amazing answers to
prayers and miracles go virtually unnoticed in the busyness of our
lives. Challenged by Psalm 145:6: “Your marvelous doings are headline
news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness,” and
her passion for prayer and belief that “prayer was never meant to be
complicated,” led her to write this book.
So
Frey went on a mission, asking her friends to send her their stories of
answered prayers. Soon she was flooded with responses as this request
traveled the world. The result is an uplifting book filled with easy to
read, captivating stories that will touch the heart, and strengthen
one’s faith.
“For
those who have faith in God, I want these stories to give hope,
insight, and courage. For those who don’t have faith, I want this book
to help them see that God is real, and He is loving and does answer our
prayers,” says Frey.
Alice
Gray, author of Stories for the Heart series says: “Every page is a
powerful reminder that we are surrounded by the miracles of answered
prayer.”
Singer
and songwriter, JJ Heller writes: “In a culture filled with skepticism
and surplus, Amazing Modern-Day Miracles is a poignant reminder that the
Lord is still working in miraculous ways to bring healing and
redemption.”
Stories
in the book include that of Andy Lum, who survived four aneurysms and
whose neurosurgeon said he beat 99.9% of the odds. “Clearly God
intervened, not just once, but many times, kept him alive and healed
him,” said Suzanne Frey. The Lums recently hosted and invited many of
their friends, including doctors, nurses and therapists, who assisted,
prayed for and supported the Lums. As a thank you, the Lums gave each
family a copy of “Amazing Modern-Day Miracles,” so they could read
Andy’s story for themselves.
Generational abuse finally broken
Also
featured in the book is Mary Guess’s story, which, Grey says “is
heart-wrenching, yet redemptive, as God showed her how she could choose
not to pass on generational abuses. With His redeeming love and power,
he led her on a journey of change, choices and victory.”
Amazing Modern-Day Miracles is appropriate for all ages, including children and teens, and relevant regardless of one’s spiritual beliefs.
“It
is my sincere hope,” says Frey “that readers will be challenged to pray
more, put their trust in God like never before, and then share their
own amazing answers to prayer with others.”
