Qiang, Luhua of China
For a long period of time before 1949, the Qiang lived in
primitive conditions. A feudal landlord economy dominated crop and
livestock production. Many of these poor peasants eventually lost their
land due to excessive and unfair taxation. They became hired laborers
and wandered from place to place to make a living. In their small fields
the Luhua Qiang grow corn, red peppers, potatoes, cabbages, beans, and
wheat. They also grow a fruit called whadjou. In their mud brick homes
they keep pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, and some cattle. White stones
are not only representative of Qiang gods but are also a symbol of good
fortune. They are Buddhists, mingled with animistic practices.Ministry Obstacles No scripture or evangelistic resources are reported as available in the language of the Luhua Qiang, and the literacy rate is probably not high. Outreach Ideas Please pray for workers to be sent to this tribe. They will need to know how to communicate the Gospel orally. Pray they will be committed to spend sufficient time with the people to fully answer their questions. Pray for the followers of Christ There are likely no followers of Jesus Christ among this group at the present time. However, pray for those who will soon come to know and follow Jesus. Pray they will learn to be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. Pray they will live lives that honor their Savior. Pray for the entire people group "They [Luhua Qiang] are unreached not because they are resistant to the claims of Christ, but rather because few have ever been presented with the gospel in a way they could comprehend and make an intelligent decision to accept or reject the Savior." Please pray for this problem to soon be fixed. Scripture Focus "Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession." Psalm 2:8 |
