Khatri, Muslim of Pakistan

The Khatri are a trading and business caste, which originated in Punjab. Their name comes from the Sanskrit word "Kshatriya", which is the second of the four caste [groupings] of Hinduism. Many members belong to the middle class and have entered teaching and civil service professions. They are one of the most advanced and progressive communities in India and value education. They will only eat food cooked by Brahmins or caste members. Divorce is traditionally not allowed, but due to modernization, divorce is allowed under extreme maladjustment. Their women have a reputation for outstanding beauty. Khatris take their religion seriously. They celebrate traditional Muslim, Hindu, and Sikh festivals and fasts as applicable.
Ministry Obstacles
The Khatri community speaks several languages in Pakistan, and each language subgroup may need its own church planting project.
Outreach Ideas
Please pray for Gospel radio to be widely available throughout Pakistan, in many languages. Pray for the funds needed and for skilled people to create the programming and maintain the broadcasts.
Pray for the followers of Christ
None of the Khatri community has reported themselves as Christians to the census, in either Pakistan or India. However, please pray for those who will soon come to Christ in saving faith. They will need prayer support to thrive as followers of Jesus.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray this high caste community will not let pride keep them from humble acceptance of God's gift of eternal life, found through faith in his son.
