On June 1st, ICC launched a new campaign to stand for minority
Christians who were having their lands seized and being forced out of
their homes by village leaders. Thanks to
your phone calls and your action, the issue of the persecution of
minority Christians in Mexico reached discussion on Capitol Hill. On
July 17, Senator Marco Rubio questioned the nominee for the next
ambassador to Mexico, the Honorable Roberta S. Jacobson, in regards to
ICC's investigation of the maltreatment of Christians in Mexico.
ICC
estimates that at least 70 open cases of religious persecution against
Christians remain in just five states: Chiapas, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Puebla,
and Guerrero. Each of these cases involves communities of 20 to 100
individuals, putting the number of victims in the thousands.
From having water and electricity to their homes cut off for refusing
to participate in certain festivals to being driven completely from
their villages and having their lands confiscated, Christians in Mexico
are facing discrimination and violence for their faith on a daily
basis.
With your help, we
can make a difference for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.
