Jew, Bukharic in Uzbekistan
Bukharic Jews are Jews from Central Asia who speak
Bukhori, a dialect of the Persian language. Their name comes from the
former Central Asian Emirate of Bukhara. Since the collapse of the
Soviet Union, the vast majority have moved to Israel or the United
States. The majority of Bukharian Jews trace their ancestry to Israelite
captives who never came back from the east. The community was
essentially cut off from the rest of the Jewish world for more than
2,000 years and somehow managed to survive and preserve their Jewish
identity and heritage in the face of countless odds.Ministry Obstacles The Jewish apostle Paul described the veil over the eyes of the Jews, obscuring their view of Jesus the Messiah. Pray this veil will be removed in the Lord's time. Outreach Ideas Much sustained prayer is needed to prepare the hearts of the Jews to understand and believe. Pray for the followers of Christ Although there may be no present followers of the Messiah Jesus among the Bukharic Jews of Uzbekistan, pray for those the Lord will soon call to himself. Pray they will be entirely convinced that Jesus is the one promised by the prophets, and won't waver in their faith. Pray for steadfastness. Pray for the entire people group Pray for the Bukharic Jews to not be satisfied with a religion of works. Pray they will understand the implications of Abraham's faith being counted as righteousness. Scripture Focus "And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Genesis 12:3 |
