The name Ghirath refers to the traditional occupation of agriculture and animal husbandry, for which this community is well known. Marriage rituals are performed by a Brahman according to Vedic rites, and the bride and groom circle the sacred fire or a pomegranate or fig tree. Birth pollution is terminated by taking cow's urine on the seventh and thirteenth days.
