Nung in Vietnam

Nung in Vietnam
The Nung support themselves through agriculture, and are also known for their handicrafts. They have an abundant wealth of folk art and cultural activities including folksongs and alternative songs ("sli"). The smooth melodies of the "sli" are harmonious with the natural sounds of the forests and mountains. This type of folksong is a combination of verse and music. The Nung mainly worship their ancestors, spirits, saints, Confucius, and Kwan Yin.
Ministry Obstacles
The Nung may well believe that to follow Christ will offend their ancestors.
Outreach Ideas
Christian workers can carry the Gospel message to the Nung by telling them stories from Scripture, as well as with films and Gospel recordings. Bridges of friendship are needed.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the followers of Christ among the Nung, that they will be sent teachers to help them, and mature believers to model Christ-like behavior.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Nung will be able to live peaceful lives and be able to care well for their families.
Scripture Focus
"Give thanks to the Lord, call on His Name; make known among the nations what He has done." Psalm 105:1

Rahanweyn in Somalia

Rahanweyn in Somalia
The Digil and Rahawiin (Mirifle) are two of the clan federations of the Somali peoples. The Somalis are not a unitary people group, but a grouping of broad clan federations divided by language and by clan conflicts. The Digil-Rahawiin speak various dialects of what is known as the Maay language. The Digil and Rahawiin clans retain much of the historic nomadic, pastoral culture primarily centered around camels with a few cattle and goats. They are virtually all Muslim.
Ministry Obstacles
The Digil-Rahawiin clans may offer special challenges to evangelists and church planters because of the clan divisions within the broader group.
Outreach Ideas
Christian workers need to care genuinely for the material and physical needs of these people, living in a harsh land.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are very few followers of Jesus among this large clan grouping in Somalia. They need prayer support. Pray they will be sent resources (Scripture, Jesus film, and so forth) to help them become established in the faith. Pray they will be patient with each other, bearing with one another in love.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Digil-Rahawiin people living in the harsh environment of Somalia to be able to care adequately for their families. Pray for sufficient rain, and for good agricultural practices.
Scripture Focus
"All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before You." Psalm 22:27

The Body Building - Membangun Tubuh Kristus Bersama

Shalom,

God bless.

Pakistan Christian sentenced to death for WhatsApp ‘blasphemy’, despite gaps in police case

Pakistan Christian sentenced to death for WhatsApp ‘blasphemy’, despite gaps in police case

By Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST News Service
Nadeem charged with blasphemy smallerGUJRAT, PUNJAB PROVINCE, PAKISTAN (ANS – September 20, 2017) -- Six days after a Pakistani Christian was sentenced to death for blasphemy, the young man’s lawyer says there was insufficient evidence against his client and that the police failed to investigate the matter properly.
According to World Watch Monitor (www.worldwatchmonitor.org), Nadeem Masih, 24, from the Yaqoobabad area of the religiously conservative city of Gujrat, in Punjab Province, was judged to have sent four messages via WhatsApp to his Muslim friend which defamed Islam’s prophet, Muhammad. On 14 September, he was fined the equivalent of around $3000 and sentenced to death.
But his lawyer, Riaz Anjum, says there are still unanswered questions from the trial, which was conducted in the prison where Masih was being held, for security reasons – in case of a mob gathering if he was transported elsewhere. According to the first information report (FIR) provided by the police to the court, the first blasphemous text was sent on 23 June 2016, but the complaint by his friend, whom Masih has known since childhood, wasn’t lodged for another 17 days.
“Messages were sent over a period of time and it took 17 days to lodge the first information report with the police,” Anjum told World Watch Monitor. “If there was provocation, then the response should have been immediate and Yasir Bashir [the complainant] would have gone to the police much earlier.
“During the entire trial, we did not see that Masih wanted to incite his friends over religious differences. If that were the case, then he should have sent these messages to all his friends. So there remains a need to check what really made this happen.”
Anjum also accused the police of failing to properly investigate whether the messages were indeed sent by Nadeem Masih, or whether someone else could have sent them from his phone.
Masih was known to have been having a relationship with a woman, Nargis Bibi, who had converted to Christianity six months before the accusations were lodged, and Anjum says the police failed to properly investigate whether she could have sent the messages.
“No-one has seen Masih sending messages; hence, it is only hearsay, which is not admissible evidence against Masih,” he said. “… It is quite possible that Nargis would have sent those messages, as she was in an illicit relation with him and was always close to him. However, the court could not find any proof of this and rejected the claim.”
Masih’s family had asked whether Nargis Bibi would be willing to appear as a witness in court, but she refused.
World Watch Monitor went on to say that another factor in the case was the relationship between Nadeem Masih, his friend, Yasir Bashir, and the other complainant, Muhammad Akram. Local sources told World Watch Monitor, on the condition of anonymity, that the three had been running a small business together, selling alcohol (the sale and purchase of which is only allowed for non-Muslims in Pakistan, and only once they have obtained a special permit).
During the trial, Bashir witnessed before the court that he had had a close relationship with Masih for several years and that they had never before had any problems.
Local sources told World Watch Monitor that a few days before the case was filed, the three friends had started doing business separately and developed a rivalry. They said Masih had even tried to lodge a police complaint of his own against his friend, Yasir Bashir, accusing him of illegally selling alcohol.
Initial Arrest
Nadeem Masih was initially accused on July 10, 2016, after which his family fled their homes for fear of repercussions, as local Muslims clamored for his arrest.
“The situation remained tense even afterwards, so the police administration decided to conduct the entire trial in the prison,” Anjum told World Watch Monitor.
After his arrest, one of Masih’s brothers, Faryad, expressed disbelief that a family friend had lodged an accusation against his brother.
“Yasir has been our friend for more than 15 years,” he said. “He worked as a painter with my [other] brother, Shahbaz.”
Masih’s arrest came during a spike in blasphemy cases against Christians. In May 2016, a young Pakistani Christian woman was accused of blasphemy for allegedly using an advertising banner bearing the name of Prophet Muhammad as a floor covering. The accusation, which was later withdrawn, came just a few weeks after another Christian was accused of blasphemy in a village 62 miles away.
In June 2016, 10 Christian families fled their village after a man from a Christian community was accused of sending a blasphemous message on Facebook Messenger. Also in June 2016, a court jailed two Pakistani Christians (also from Gujrat) for six years for calling a Christian leader a “prophet”. And in the district of Gujranwala, 31 miles from Gujrat, an anti-terrorism court sentenced a school principal to death for blasphemy. The man had initially sought police protection, after alleging he was the victim of blackmail and extortion. Instead, he was charged with blasphemy by the police, after the men he had accused levelled charges against him.
Blasphemy in Pakistan
More than 30 years have passed since Pakistan’s President, Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq – during military rule in 1986 – decided that the death penalty was the appropriate punishment for blasphemy against Sunni Islam. This blasphemy law was empowered by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1991.
Asia Bibi smallerToday, Pakistan remains the world’s most determined anti-blasphemy state. Christians make up only about 4 per cent of the country’s overwhelmingly Muslim population, but about half of blasphemy charges are against Christians. The cases of two Christian females, Asia Bibi, who is still on death row, and teenager Rimsha Masih, on whom evidence was planted by an imam, both hit the world headlines.
Dr. Mario Silva, a former member of the Canadian Parliament and Executive Director of the International Forum for Rights and Security (IFFRAS), has spoken at the UN Office in Geneva on the issue.
“Since 1987 to 2017, 222 cases under the blasphemy law have been registered against Christians,” he said. “We have to call the governments in Europe, the United States and Canada to ask what they are doing by maintaining a relationship with Pakistan. Why are you not speaking up with authorities regarding minority rights particularly with the persecution of Christians in that country? The countries must speak up against it… The [Pakistan] authorities do nothing about it and the Government has refused to change the law.”

“Hurricane Irma died out after the prayer of Korean pastor, Dr. Jaerock Lee”

“Hurricane Irma died out after the prayer of Korean pastor, Dr. Jaerock Lee”

Announcement from Dr. Mikhail Morgulis, Founder of the Spiritual Diplomacy Movement Foundation, located in Florida, USA, attracted the eyes of many people
ANS News Release from Manmin Central Church – For Immediate Release
Jaerock Lee for Timesquare smallerSEOUL, KOREA (ANS – September 28, 2017) -- An announcement from a theologian that Hurricane Irma was violently rushing northward to Florida and a great deal of loss was expected to occur, and who later said that it had then miraculously died out following the believing prayer of a Korean pastor, is attracting a lot of attention.
Hurricane Irma was considered to be the worst from among the many hurricanes that have occurred in the Atlantic Ocean, and swept across many islands passing through the Caribbean Sea.
It landed in Florida as Category 4, and was expected to create a great amount of loss of life and property while following the eastern coast that has many major cities.
The US government announced to the 6.5 million people living in its path, should immediately evacuate their area, making it the biggest number of evacuees in American catastrophic history.
Journalists expected it to be the worst hurricane in known history, but surprisingly the New York Times reported the loss was much less than expected. At its strongest, Hurricane Irma, with category 5 force, suddenly weakened a little to a category 3 while passing through the eastern Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, but it was strengthened again to category 4 when it landed in the Key West Island, located in the southernmost part of Florida.
Then, on September 11, 2017 at 2 AM, it weakened to a category 1, and turned into a tropical storm of 110 km/h, six hours later.
Theological doctor, Mikhail Morgulis, Founder of the Spiritual Diplomacy Movement Foundation, and an influential religious leader in the Russian-speaking communities in the US, gave a special testimony to what occurred during this time.
“Hurricane Irma drove into the State of Florida, in which I and my family live, as a horrible threat,” he said. “It caused numerous refugees to leave their homes and suffer a lot. The Bible says that the ‘effective prayer of a righteous man’ can accomplish much, so I hurriedly sent a prayer request to Dr. Jaerock Lee of South Korea, and asked him to pray to God for the US to escape from this disaster, and for Hurricane Irma to change its course, or die out.”
In the evening of September 8, Dr. Jaerock Lee read the prayer request sent by Dr. Morgulis at his prayer house, and let his heart and body concentrate before God. He earnestly prayed to God for Florida and its numerous refugees.
An executive director of Manmin Central Church in Seoul, South Korea, said, “Along with Dr. Mikhail Morgulis, a couple of missionaries, believers, and a Russian pastor, who is senior pastor of the largest Russian church in New York City, sent the same prayer request. Dr. Jaerock Lee earnestly prayed that the hurricane may die out and that the US escape from such a disaster.”
Mikhail Morgulis smallerDr. Morgulis said, “I was told that Dr. Jaerock Lee had prayed to God in the evening of September 8, for this to occur. Afterwards, the hurricane subtly changed its course and rushed into the western land passing by the eastern coast in which there are many major cities. Meanwhile it lost its strength and weakened to a tropical storm. The power of faith and prayer is so powerful.”
After Hurricane Irma weakened, many refugees from Florida began returning home and it is continuing.
A great number of prayer requests are continually flooding into Dr. Jaerock Lee from the disaster areas around the globe. One was from Sebastian Impeto, Leader of the Christian Party in Democratic Republic of Congo, who stated, “In 2014, the Ebola virus was rampant in my country. I sent the prayer request to Dr. Jaerock Lee and, by his believing prayer, the number of victims and deaths came to an end.” He went on to express his “sincere trust” in Dr. Lee.

Daya in Indonesia

Daya in Indonesia
Daya homes are mostly found in the southern and western foothills and mountains of the Bukit Barisan range of Sumatra. Daya houses usually consist of a bedroom and a large guest room. The floor and walls are made of wood or bamboo. The roof is often made of coconut palm leaves layered with clay. Although the influence of Islam is strong upon the culture of the Daya, they also maintain animistic beliefs. Many Daya use amulets with written verses from the Qur'an. A dukun (shaman/healer/occultist) is often called to heal the sick and cast out evil spirits.
Ministry Obstacles
There is often fear involved when people consider leaving their religion: fear of spirits, fear of other people.
Outreach Ideas
Many good resources are available in the language of the Daya people. Gospel films are available, as well as printed material and recordings. These can all be useful, but workers are needed.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few followers of Christ among the Daya community will faithfully fellowship together. Pray they will put off falsehood and speak truthfully to one another, in love. Pray they will be protected from temptations.
Pray for the entire people group
The physical needs of the Daya are great. One third of the Daya live below the poverty level. They seriously require help in the areas of health and drinking water. Besides this, they need educational assistance in the form of teachers, school equipment and supplies, school buildings and other community facilities for children.
Scripture Focus
"Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised." 1 Chronicles 16:24-25

Playboy founder had “The Purpose Driven Life” in his bedroom

Playboy founder had “The Purpose Driven Life” in his bedroom

By Mark Ellis, Senior Correspondent for ASSIST News Service
RIP Hugh Hefner through the years smallerSOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (ANS - September 29, 2017) -- He dressed up porn and attempted to make it respectable, flaunted a hedonistic, licentious lifestyle, exploited and objectified women, and ensnared many men in sexual addiction.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner passed to his eternal reward September 27th. He was 91.
Hefner was at the leading edge of the sexual revolution that swept through America and the world in the Sixties and Seventies, which upended Christian values and skewered societal norms.
Hugh Hefner with his private plane and his bunniesSome Christians will be quick to say they know Hefner’s eternal destiny. If the immortal Dante’s depiction of hell is correct, Hefner may be in the infamous “second ring” of the Inferno – reserved for those overcome by lust.
Dante envisioned a place where the “bright, voluptuous sin” displayed in Hefner’s magazines and personified by his playboy lifestyle transmutes into “a howling darkness of helpless discomfort.”
In this circle, Dante found Semiramis, Dido, Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Paris, Achilles, Tristan, and others overwhelmed by sexual love. Did Hugh Hefner join their ranks yesterday?
I saw my first Playboy magazine at a friend’s house in 1965. I was only 10-years-old and unprepared for the sudden ignition of sexual feelings, like rocket fuel injected into a booster too soon – years before it was ready for lift-off.
This led to a life-long battle against the seductive tentacles unleashed by Hefner’s revolution, now readily available in every home through Internet access at the click of a mouse.
Rick Warren with The Purpose Driven LifeMy misery and the misery of countless others resulting from Hefner’s ignoble life leads me to a place of grim satisfaction as I contemplate the fact that God’s justice will finally be executed perfectly in Hefner’s soul.
But what if the mansion, the grotto, the women, the parties, and his silk PJ’s were all a carefully crafted façade meant to hide his inner longing for real peace?
Anyone who has indulged themselves with pornography knows it satisfies for only a fleeting moment. Afterward, the unmet longings of the soul emerge and there can be little doubt that Hefner wrestled with this angst.
Could the one who did so much to dismantle the influence of Christianity have actually explored its timeless truths toward the end of his life?
According to one of the caretakers of the infamous Playboy mansion, who happens to be a Christian, Hefner had The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren in his bedroom in 2008 – and it was open!
