Prayer Request GPN 07-22-2010

GPN 07-22-2010

“Peace floods the soul when Christ rules the heart”. John 14:27; Phil. 4:7

That God will fill your heart with lots of peace this coming weekend, Roberto Wijnhof

Multiple international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, accuse North Korea of having one of the worst human rights records of any nation. North Koreans have been referred to as "some of the world's most brutalized people" by Human Rights Watch, due to the severe restrictions placed on their political and economic freedoms. North Korean defectors have testified to the existence of prison and detention camps with an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 inmates (about 0.85% of the population), and have reported torture, starvation, rape, murder, medical experimentation, forced labour, and forced abortions. Convicted political prisoners and their families are sent to these camps, where they are prohibited from marrying, required to grow their own food, and cut off from external communication. It is still the most difficult place in the world to be Christian. All religious activity is seen as a revolt against North Korea's socialist principles and the cult of Kim Jong-il and his father. As a result of strict searches, considerable numbers of secret Christians have been discovered, arrested, tortured, and sometimes killed. Despite this, and the lack of freedom to worship, many take the risk of sharing their faith and the church is growing: there are an estimated 400,000 believers. Ask God to reveal His love to the North Koreans. Pray Ps.24:7-10 over this nation. Ask God to soften the hearts of the leaders to hear God’s voice and walk in obedience.

Pray for Azariah Ministries International based in Uganda East Africa. Ap. S.M.

Please continue to pray for my son, David and granddaughters, Kelsey and Kallie during this extremely difficult time of separation and divorce. Pray that God will keep doors closed that they should not go through, opening only those that will lead them to Jesus. They need a new church home and new Godly friends to encourage and walk with them through this time.

We have received an application form from a Bible School in the USA. We want to apply, kindly pray for it. We have no application fee, so we will send it without fee. Kindly pray they accept our application and pray for our admission and scholarship. Pastor S. Masih Pakistan

Brian,Jenni, Caz, Jacey, Rylea, Kyla: They need a new church home and Godly friends....please pray that the Lord would open doors to His will for their lives and shut doors that need to be shut.

Hi my brothers and sisters asking special prayer for GODS strength and provision, the library is almost empty right now so i thought it would be a good time to write this request rather than Monday when it is packed. GOD richly bless you brother Danny.

My 3 year old Steven needs also special prayers he has hysterical frequent uncontrollable hysterical yelling/crying attacks, and is very slow in speech still. Pray also for my marriage here in Mexico. Arie J. G.

There is an immense onslaught on family life. There has probably never been a time in history when marriage and family life have been under such strain. Purposeful, systematic, intelligent and persevering prayer is necessary in this area. Pray that families will come together and share around the Word of God on a regular basis. Pray that couples will be inspired to pray together about their needs and giving thanks for God’s provision.

We Have Received Application Forms From Bible School Christ For The Nations in

Dallas TX USA. We Will Fill And Post Them.

We Want Admission And Scholarship Kindly Pray For It.

But We Have Not Money. Jesus Is Our Provider. We Believe. My Family Want To Go With Me In USA S.R. Pakistan

PAKISTAN: Remembering victims of violence one year on Last summer, over 100 houses were destroyed and eight people killed in Gojra, Pakistan, in extremist violence which was sparked by false accusations of blasphemy against Christians. Despite two official investigations, there has been no public statement of their findings and reconstruction of destroyed homes remains incomplete. Remember and pray for the victims in Gojra

Please pray that Carol can let go of a very, very damaging relationship and that she will have the courage to do this quickly. She needs more of Jesus and less of the world that she is clinging to. Carol also needs a wonderful church home and new, Godly friends who will speak the truth to her, but in love.

Xenophobic clashes broke out in Kya Sands this week. Police have moved in and are maintaining a heavy, watchful presence. Local residents were said to be jealous of the success of informal businesses established by foreigners and were believed to be behind much of the assaulting and looting that had taken place. Please pray for the protection of every person in the informal settlements in South Africa. Ask God to release His peace in the hearts of the attackers and that they will live in harmony with foreigners.

Thanks for your prayers, intercessory prayer warriors, for all of my family who are gathering for a Beckner Family Reunion in Dallas, Texas, this weekend! Please pray for a safe trip for everyone, and that God would move in our midst as we visit with loved ones. Blessings to All, Helen

I’ve been under extreme Satanic/Demonic attacks within the past 2 yrs. I strongly believe there are powerful forces, connected to my apartment bldg, attempting to destroy and push me out. My apartment has been broken into, on many occasions with items stolen, which caused me to change my locks. I subsequently experienced approx. 10 damaging water leaks, banging on my pipes at all hours of the night and doors slamming, to name a few things. There are strong indications that I am being watched and have been slandered, which has negatively impacted me losing my job and a bad reputation at church. Ultimately, I am fighting a spiritual battle (Eph 6:12). Cam

Pray for Manchu of China

Manchu of China
The majority of the Manchu are concentrated in China's northeastern provinces. For centuries the Manchu separated themselves from the Chinese and even erected a wooden stockade to keep them out. In 1859 the Chinese were finally allowed to migrate into Manchuria. The Chinese entered in such massive numbers that today the Manchu are a minority in their homeland. Many of the Manchu practice Buddhism and Confucianism, but modern Manchu tend to rely less on religion and more on logic.

Ministry Obstacles
The Manchu may be slow to receive the gospel from the Chinese, given the history of antagonism with the Chinese. Outsiders may be needed.

Outreach Ideas
Christian workers need to minister to the physical and material needs of the Manchu, being genuinely interested in their welfare.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are followers of Christ among the Manchu. Please pray they will trust fully in Christ and His finished work on the cross, and will bear a strong witness to their families and friends.

Pray for the entire people group

Pray for Gelao of China

Gelao of China
The Gelao are one of the least known of China's official ethnic minorities. Today, most Gelao are culturally indistinguishable from the Chinese. The Gelao were once head-hunters and cannibals. Among the Yaya (Tooth) Gelao, the custom of breaking the front tooth of a bride was observed until recently. The Gelao are primarily ancestor worshipers. They also worship the gods of giant trees, of mountains, of sky and earth, cows, etc.

Ministry Obstacles
Communicating the Gospel clearly to people with an animistic worldview is difficult, but far from impossible.

Outreach Ideas
Christian workers need to minister to the physical and material needs of the Gelao community, building bridges of friendship.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the followers of Christ among the Gelao people will hunger to search the scriptures and learn of the Lord and His ways. Pray they will be joyful always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Gelao will be set free from the bondage of serving created things, instead of the Creator.

Pray for Qanu of China

Qanu of China
The lack of a written script has caused great anguish among the Miao (Qanu are a subgroup) for centuries. A Miao pastor, Wang Mingji, declared his feelings: "We Miao do not have writing. For thousands of years we have been like the blind." The majority of Qanu are animists. The spirit of the water is particularly held in great fear. They are primarily located in villages to the south of the city of Kaili, in Guizhou Province.

Ministry Obstacles
Lack of literacy can be an obstacle to the Gospel, but this can be partially overcome by using oral communication approaches effectively.

Outreach Ideas
Christians can carry the good news of Jesus to the Qanu community by recounting stories from Scripture, as well as using Gospel recordings and films.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be no believers in Jesus among the Qanu today. However, pray for those that will soon emerge, that the Lord will provide excellent teachers and pastors to help them. Pray for Scripture availability.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Qanu people will be delivered from fear of created things, and will come to reverence and know the one who is the Creator.

Pray for Akha of China

Akha of China
Long recitations, committed to memory and handed down from parents to children, are essential for continuing the Akha culture. Among the Akha it is important for a man to be able to memorize his complete genealogy right back to the first man, Sm Mi O. To be unable to do so is considered a disgrace. Despite being some of the poorest people in southern China, Akha women have a striking appearance. They wear heavily decorated headdresses and skirts. The Akha's religious philosophy, Akhazang (Akha-way), permeates every aspect of their lives and social structure. They believe in a supreme deity named Apoe Miyeh.

Ministry Obstacles
The Akha's commitment to follow the deity Apoe Miyeh must be redirected towards the Creator God.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps the Christians in the Akha communities of Myanmar and Thailand will find ways to minister to the Akha of China. Pray for this desire to arise at the proper time.

Pray for the followers of Christ
In Myanmar and Thailand the Akha have responded in large numbers to the Gospel, with as many as 60,000 Akha Christians reported in Myanmar alone. In China, however, only 500 to 600 Akha have believed. Pray for the Akha believers in China to grow in numbers, and in spiritual maturity.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the entire Akha community will increasingly be drawn to the Savior, Jesus Christ, as their distant relatives in Myanmar have experienced to an extent.

Scripture Focus

Pray for Berber, Uregu of Morocco

Berber, Uregu of Morocco
Language is all-important to Moroccan Berbers because it is the main attribute that unites their pluralistic culture. Though most Berbers are Muslim, some are Jewish and others are Christian. They are ethnically mixed and spread over the country. Moroccan Berbers have been less violent than those in Algeria in their resistance to Arabization, but Berber calls to re-examine Moroccan society have grown louder.

Ministry Obstacles
Access to these people from outsiders is limited.

Outreach Ideas
Gospel radio and television is very helpful in reaching the Berbers of northern Africa. Pray for excellent programming that will draw people to listen and view.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few Uregu Berber Christians will faithfully fellowship together, encouraging and learning from each other. Pray they find good study materials, including Scripture.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the ancient Berber peoples of Morocco will have freedom to express their culture, and live peacefully with their Arab neighbors.

Pray for Gayo of Indonesia

Gayo of Indonesia
The Gayo of Indonesia live in the remote central highlands of Aceh Province on the island of Sumatra, an area difficult for Christians to enter. The Gayo do not have a written language. Folk tales and oral stories are passed down in the form of poetry. The Gayo people are mostly Muslim, but their understanding and conviction are lacking. Most Gayo still believe in good and bad spirits and holy men both dead and alive.

Ministry Obstacles
The Gayo live among the strongly Muslim Aceh people, making access especially difficult to outsiders.

Outreach Ideas
Sustained, focused prayer for the Gayo is needed. Christians need to find ways to help the Gayo with needs such as improved health care.

Pray for the followers of Christ
The few Christians among the Gayo tribe very much need our prayers. Pray they will cling to Christ, resting in His commitment to them.

Pray for the entire people group
The Gayo need medical workers to improve health conditions, as local understanding about health matters is very low. Pray for improved medical care.

Pray for Dagomba of Ghana

Dagomba of Ghana
The homeland of the Dagbamba is called Dagbon. The overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Kingdom is the Ya-Na, whose court and administrative capital is at Yendi. Lacking a writing culture, Dagbamba are one of the cultural groups with a very sophisticated oral culture woven around drums and other musical instruments. Thus most of its history, until quite recently, has been based on oral tradition with drummers as professional historians. Dagbon is heavily influenced by Islam.

Ministry Obstacles
To follow Christ in a Muslim tribe is to risk much of what is important in life. It's not a trivial commitment.

Outreach Ideas
Stories from scripture, told by Christians who genuinely care for the Dagbamba people, can be used greatly by God's Spirit.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the Christian believers among the Dagbamba will fellowship faithfully together, growing into Christ-likeness, being zealous to know Him and serve Him.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Dagbamba tribe may be able to send their children to school, and have clean drinking water and adequate food.

Pray for Bedia, Hindu of India

Bedia, Hindu of India
One source considers "Bediya" to be the generic name of a number of vagrant, gypsy-like groups. Traditionally, a large section of the Bedia were reported to be earning a livelihood from prostitution and dancing, however, this has largely been discontinued. The Bedia worship deities like Thakur, Shiva, Parvati, Hanuman, Chamunda, Kali and Sitala and Khermata (a local deity).

Ministry Obstacles
Giving up allegiance to personal deities may be threatening.

Outreach Ideas
Christians need to emphasize the person and work of Jesus to the Bedia community, showing His goodness to them.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few followers of Jesus among the Bedia will have pastors and teachers to help them grow to become faithful disciples. Pray they will be taught accurately and well.

Pray for the entire people group

Pray for Simeulue of Indonesia

Simeulue of Indonesia
The Simeulue people live on Simeulue Island located 200 kilometers off the western coast of Aceh Province. Generally, the Simeulue make a living from fishing and farming. Each village usually has one mosque or musholla (prayer-house). The Simeulue people are nearly 100% Muslim. They are very proud that there are no churches, temples or any other religions present among them. Despite their exclusive Islamic status, many are still influenced by animistic beliefs and various superstitions.

Ministry Obstacles
The Simeulue have made a strong commitment to Islam. Only the Lord can bring discernment as to who Jesus is, and what He has provided on their behalf. Spiritual matters are spiritually discerned.

Pray for Belitung of Indonesia

Belitung of Indonesia
The traditional Belitung house is built on a raised platform with bark walls and roofs of sago palm leaves. They also have temporary villages used during harvest. These houses are built at the edge of the forest and are usually lived in during the time the people work in the field. The Belitung adhere to Islam which came to the area around the 17th century. In spite of their dedication to Islam, many Belitung people are still influenced by animistic belief in spirits and various superstitions.

Ministry Obstacles
These people live on Belitung island, making access somewhat a challenge.

Outreach Ideas
Christians can help encourage and disciple the Christian believers in this people group, praying for them and providing discipleship materials. As these disciples grow they will be able to minister to their own people.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the few followers of Jesus among the Belitung community. Pray they will fellowship together and grow strong in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Pray for Angku of China

Angku of China
The Angku were originally part of a large Austro-Asiatic group that occupied much of Yunnan before the Dai and Yi people arrived. "They were driven out of their habitats by the invaders, dispersed and split into the isolated groups they are today." Most Angku women are fond of chewing betel nut which blackens their teeth and gums. Stained teeth are considered a mark of beauty among Angku women. Since the betel juice only stains temporarily, some women use black dye to artificially stain their teeth. The Angku are staunch followers of Theravada Buddhism. Angku life revolves around the local temple.

Ministry Obstacles
The worldview of the Buddhist is quite different than the worldview of Scripture.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps Chinese believers will be burdened to carry the Gospel of Christ to this Buddhist community. Pray for this.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There likely are no followers of Christ among the Angku community at present, but pray for those that will soon emerge. Pray they will be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Pray for Scripture availability.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Angku people will be made aware of their need for a Savior and forgiveness of sin. Pray they will understand and believe that Jesus is that Savior.

Pray for Hazara of Afghanistan

Hazara of Afghanistan
The Hazara are a people of distinctions - set apart from fellow Afghans by religion, mixed ethnicity, and an independent nature - and they have suffered for them. Persecution has shaped and defined the Hazara. They face discrimination as Shi'ite Muslims, a minority among Afghanistan's dominant Sunni Muslims, as well as for ethnic bias. They likely descended from Mongol soldiers left behind by Genghis Khan in the 13th century, with considerable Turkish admixture. A talented people, the Hazara truly enjoy poetry.

Ministry Obstacles
Afghanistan provides many obstacles to Christian testimony. Spiritual opposition is only one aspect of the difficulties.

Outreach Ideas
Much prayer is needed to prepare the hearts of the Hazara to understand and believe the good news about Jesus. Christians also need to be genuinely concerned about the physical needs of the Hazara, and seek to find ways to minister to them.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the few Christian believers among the Hazara. They are doubly persecuted, being both Hazara and Christian. Pray they will not waver in their commitment to Christ. Pray they will faithfully strengthen each other through fellowship.

Pray for the entire people group
The Hazara have responded to the Gospel of Christ in small numbers, possibly because they have been outsiders in the Afghan culture. Pray the Lord's Spirit will continue to work among them, giving many a desire to learn of Christ. Pray each person in the Hazara community will have at least one opportunity to hear clearly of who Jesus is, and how they can know Him.

Help stop the forcible return of Eritrean refugees

Your prayer and action today can help stop the forcible return of refugees to Eritrea, where they are seriously endangered.

Following our call for action on behalf of Eritrean refugees and asylum seekers, we are disappointed to report that, after a brief respite, forcible returns have resumed. In December, over 100 Eritrean men, women and children were imprisoned in Northern Sinai after being forcibly returned to Egypt by the Israeli Army. Since then, over 80 have been forcibly deported. Those who resisted, including a pregnant woman, were severely assaulted by Egyptian prison guards. Countless other Eritrean refugees face a similar fate and are in desperate need of our help.

Thanks for your prayers for Steve during a time of exhaustion from his job situation. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to touch his life with healing, and that he would be able to have a peaceful sleep each night. Steve needs for God to intervene and change the extremely stressful situations at his job so that he doesn't burn out, and that his health doesn't suffer.

South Africa will only directly recoup a fraction of the billions of rand spent on staging the World Cup but should reap long-term economic benefits through the re branding of a nation noted for violent crime. Businesses in Africa's biggest economy have reported booming trade, including increased hotel bookings, car rentals and sales of World Cup memorabilia since the start of the soccer spectacular on June 11. Visa says spending by foreigners using its credit cards has topped $128m, up 54% compared to the same period last year. But analysts estimate foreign spending will only inject R13bn ($1.7bn) into the local economy, far short of the roughly R40bn the government has ploughed into new stadia and upgrading roads and airports. Pray for the economy of South Africa. Ask the Lord to guide the leaders of our nation and investors on how to better the economy.

Dr Oscar Elias Biscet is a devout Christian human rights defender, sentenced in 2003 to 25 years in prison. As a long-term prisoner, he needs our continuing prayer and encouragement:He still has seventeen years of his sentence to serve. Please pray for a miracle.

Thank you so much for your kind prayers!

God worked a miracle and the visa for the Archbishop of the Assyrian Church, Mar Gewargis Sliwa was approved at the last minute . . . because you prayed!

Pray specifically for nearly 40 projects awaiting approval. D. Haiti

Please continue to pray for the Haiti Project as the team continues to assist on the ground, now concentrating on building simple housing for those still living in tents six months after the earthquake. Ken Joseph Jr.

War. Persecution. Hunger. Disease. Two million dead. Five million refugees. The mainly Christian population of South Sudan suffered grievously during the brutal civil war (1983 - 2005), which completely destroyed the infrastructure of the South. Five years later, they are still in desperate need. South Sudan is three times the size of Britain, and one of the poorest regions in the world. The year 2010 is expected to see a higher level than normal of the fatal parasitic disease kala-azar (transmitted by sand flies). In 2011, the South is due to vote on whether to become an independent country. Such a momentous choice is all too likely to bring instability or renewed conflict. Cry out to God to have mercy on Sudan. Ask the Lord to strengthen the believers; that they will continue to seek the Lord’s face in difficult times. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send in labourers to minister the Word of God to the Sudanese.

Please pray for David that the Holy Spirit would heal the deep wounds in his heart that are causing him great anger. Pray that he would be able to deal with those emotions in a way that would not cause such rage...This is keeping him from being able to receive healing and to be able to move forward.
