Pray for Akha of China

Akha of China
Long recitations, committed to memory and handed down from parents to children, are essential for continuing the Akha culture. Among the Akha it is important for a man to be able to memorize his complete genealogy right back to the first man, Sm Mi O. To be unable to do so is considered a disgrace. Despite being some of the poorest people in southern China, Akha women have a striking appearance. They wear heavily decorated headdresses and skirts. The Akha's religious philosophy, Akhazang (Akha-way), permeates every aspect of their lives and social structure. They believe in a supreme deity named Apoe Miyeh.

Ministry Obstacles
The Akha's commitment to follow the deity Apoe Miyeh must be redirected towards the Creator God.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps the Christians in the Akha communities of Myanmar and Thailand will find ways to minister to the Akha of China. Pray for this desire to arise at the proper time.

Pray for the followers of Christ
In Myanmar and Thailand the Akha have responded in large numbers to the Gospel, with as many as 60,000 Akha Christians reported in Myanmar alone. In China, however, only 500 to 600 Akha have believed. Pray for the Akha believers in China to grow in numbers, and in spiritual maturity.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the entire Akha community will increasingly be drawn to the Savior, Jesus Christ, as their distant relatives in Myanmar have experienced to an extent.

Scripture Focus
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14

Pray for Aimaq, Firozkohi of Afghanistan

Aimaq, Firozkohi of Afghanistan
"Aimaq" means "tribal people". The Firozkohi Aimaq are one of the semi-nomadic tribes. The tribes were first identified in the 16th and 17th centuries, when the groups were unified by chiefs coming from outside the area. Tribalism is strong among all Aimaq groups. For example, feuds tend to be settled by tribal rather than by government authorities. The traditional concept of honor and shame, which is very important in tribal law, is still stronger than Islamic or state law. The Aimaq, in sharp contrast with other societies in rural Afghanistan, accord women high status.

Ministry Obstacles
Afghanistan is not hospitable to any kind of Christian witness.

Outreach Ideas
Christians need to care genuinely about the physical and material needs of the Aimaq people, finding opportunities to assist them with educational needs, health care needs, and so forth.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are almost no followers of Christ among the Aimaq tribes of Afghanistan. However, pray for those the Lord will soon call to Himself. Pray they will be physically protected from harm, and also will not be unduly fearful. Pray they will learn to live fully in the power of the Lord's Spirit, demonstrating holy and joyful lives.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Aimaq tribes to increasingly desire to know the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. Pray for peace in Afghanistan.

Scripture Focus
"I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring My salvation to the ends of the earth." Isaiah 49:6

Pray for Fulani, Maasina of Mali

Fulani, Maasina of Mali
The Fulani people comprise the largest nomadic society in the world. The Fula Maasina are located predominantly in the Maasina region of Mali. The culture and lifestyle of the Fula Maasina who live there are virtually identical to those of the other Fulani peoples in West Africa. Houses belonging to the settled Fula Maasina are typically round with mud walls and thatched roofs. They are strongly Sunni Muslim.

Ministry Obstacles
The identity of the Fulani tribes has long been bound up in Islam. To follow Jesus as a Fulani is to risk cutting oneself off from family and friends . . . serious losses indeed.

Outreach Ideas
Sustained and focused prayer is needed for the Fulani tribes, to prepare their hearts. Many Christian workers are needed for these large tribes. Pray for workers, for the harvest is ripening.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few Christian believers among the Maasina Fulani will be sent teachers and materials to help them grow in Christ. They need prayer support. Pray they will clearly understand the Gospel of grace, not mixing it with the religion of good works. Pray they will see the need to be obedient to Christ out of gratitude.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the large Fulani tribes of West Africa will be able to care adequately for their families, that they will have sufficient rain for their livestock and crops. Pray they will make schooling a priority for their children. Pray for the widow and orphan, that they be cared for by the community.

Scripture Focus
"All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats." Matthew 25:32

Pray for Bedouin, Gulf of United Arab Emirates

Bedouin, Gulf of United Arab Emirates
The name "Bedouin" is derived from the Arab word bedu. It is a term used for those groups who migrate with their herds. Today, many Bedouin live as semi-nomads. Political borders are of little importance to the Bedouin, although various government restrictions are now having more affect on their migratory lifestyle than in times past. While most of the Bedouin are Sunni Muslims (many of the Malikite branch), there is still a basic belief in spirits known as jinnis. The jinnis are, according to Muslim legend, spirits capable of assuming human or animal form and exercising supernatural influence over humans.

Ministry Obstacles
It's not easy to establish long-term, trusting relationships with the semi-nomadic Bedouin. Special effort is needed to befriend these people.

Outreach Ideas
Gospel radio may be very effective in reaching the Bedouin. Pray for excellent programming that will capture the interest of the Bedouin, and that they will find these broadcast frequencies.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few believers in Jesus among the Bedouin will have hungry hearts to be real disciples of Christ. Pray they will live holy lives, and learn to live joyously as they are filled with the Lord's Spirit. Pray they will not be fearful to bear testimony to the Lord's goodness.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Bedouin tribes will be able to make necessary adjustments to the changing conditions of the 21st century. Pray their children will have opportunities to attend schools.

Scripture Focus
"And those who lead many to righteousness [will shine] like the stars for ever and ever." Daniel 12:3

Pray for Berber, Filala of Morocco

Berber, Filala of Morocco
Greek, Roman and Phoenician texts make reference to the forerunners of the Berber peoples, located in the eastern portion of Egypt. "Berber" is a generic name given to numerous heterogeneous ethnic groups who share similar cultural, political and economical practices. Contrary to the romantic, popular image that portrays Berbers as nomadic people who cross the desert on camels, their main activity is sedentary agriculture. Today, significant Berber income comes from the large number of immigrants in Europe, especially in France.

Ministry Obstacles
Morocco is not an easy place for Christians to enter, and to work.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps Berbers working in Europe will encounter Spirit-filled Christians, those who seriously follow Christ, and who will be able to assist Berbers as they also seek Christ.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the followers of Jesus who will soon be apparent among the Filala Berbers, that they will clearly understand and rest upon the Gospel of grace, not mixing it with the requirement to do good works. Pray they will understand the need to live obediently to Christ, as a result of His forgiveness and presence within.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Berbers to provide adequately for their families. Pray that the indigent, the widow and orphan, may be cared for.

Scripture Focus
"All nations You have made will come and worship before You, O Lord, they will bring glory to Your Name." Psalm 86:9

Social organizations believe aggressive marketing and the availability of alcohol are causing more and more women to drink excessively. These bodies, along with the police have noticed a growing trend of women drinking to excess. Pray for those who are addicted to alcohol, that God will deliver them. Pray against the opening of shebeens and taverns in your community. What is Intercession?

What is Intercession?

If I had to consider the most outstanding principle in the study of Intercession, I would pick out this one point:

Intercession is not about coming to the Lord with a prayer list, but coming to the Lord to GET a prayer list.

I knew someone once who really knew how to talk! If I happened to meet them in town somewhere, I could be sure that I would be late to wherever I was going. The minute we met the talking would begin. From what their uncle said at the last family social, to how their daughter was struggling at school, to how many 'serious' pains and ailments they had suffered since we last spoke.

You know the kind of person that I am talking about! Let's not be too spiritual here - none of us likes them! They are self centered and boring to be around. Yet somehow when it comes to prayer, you are not afraid to burden the Lord with all your cares and problems without allowing HIM to speak. I can imagine the Lord standing and listening sometimes, just waiting to say His part, but never getting the chance.

Instead you have your nice long prayer list and you are "bombarding the heavens" for an answer. In life you should know by now, that if you are seeking an answer about anything in your life, that it pays well to listen!

If you are to become successful in the ministry of intercession it is going to require some good listening skills on your part and not just good talking skills. As a prophet this is essential to flowing in any of the prophetic gifts. In fact, if you have studied the Prophetic Operations book, you would have read in the Prophetic Listening chapter, that there are 7 ways to hear the Lord. So let me give you a new approach to your time of intercession this week.

Practical Project

Complete this project and see how it skyrockets your prayer life to a whole new level this week!

1. Come into the presence of the Lord and spend some time talking to Him.
Commit yourself to Him afresh and invite the Holy Spirit to have His will.

2. Then wait!
Wait on the Lord and let Him speak. You might receive a vision or just an impression. Perhaps the Lord will bring someone to your mind. Begin to pray in this direction.

3. When you come to the point where you are no longer getting revelation or direction from the Lord, go ahead and share some of the things on your list with Him.

4. As you bring each thing to the Lord, be sensitive to the spirit.
You might find that he DOES want you to pray. Then again...if you feel that "no" in your spirit, do not push it. Leave that subject and move to something else.

As you become more aware of the Holy Spirit and His leading during your times of intercession, you will end up praying for things you never thought you would. Something new will happen every time. Not only is this exciting. but it will mean that you are truly being used of the Lord.

New research on lesbian couples as parents has caused quite a stir. In the report it is claimed that lesbian couples make better parents than heterosexual couples. The research also suggested that children with two female parents are more inspirational than those with male and female parents. Please pray against all these reports that want to destroy the order that God has set in place. Pray that the family units in your community will remain strong and according to God’s purpose and plan.

Hi my brothers and sisters GODS warmest and richest seasons greetings, could I please ask prayer for GODS strength and provision to make it through the week everyone is moving very fast shopping etc. and I just do not have the strength to keep up. GOD richly bless you. brother Danny

This time, I am sending you Christmas greetings from Kelowna, Canada where I am with Esther, our biological children Dickson and Mueni and the MCF North American Mission Choir team, who are part of our big MCF family. We are now preparing to leave for home to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior and are scheduled to arrive in Kenya 4 days before Christmas.

For many years, MCF has never had such a great festive season with glorious feelings in the hearts of many in MCF and in Kenya as a whole as God through His grace has crowned it by providing abundance of rain, of\ which to many people is a special and the best Christmas gift. I have just received a report from home that the Thika River which passes through the MCF farm and that was completely dry 6 months ago is now full of water once again. The dams that we had constructed over the last few years are almost full with water. The people, old and young alike and animals that were once dying in the wild reserves now have renewed hope as water is available for them and for agricultural development. This is something that we have been hoping and praying for the last 3 years. God has surely given us a true Christmas and I want to urge you to rejoice together with us.

The entire Ndalani and Yatta communities as well as our country men just planted some crops though there will be a delay in harvesting them as they are still very young and they look forward to a harvest towards the end of January 2010. Please pray that God will give us enough rains to take us for a long period of time which will allow us to have enough food for all in MCF and within the surrounding community.

It has been through your prayers and financial support that we have come this far. We could never have achieved all of the success recorded in MCF over the years without you. Thank you.

As it has been our tradition, this Christmas, we are focussing on sharing the love of God with our neighbours and children. We are planning on having;

1. A two day special feeding program for over 1,800 children from the surrounding community

2. Have a one week special feeding program for the 2,010 MCF children which will include special food such as beef, Chapati (special bread), rice, vegetables, fruits, pop, biscuits and sweets.

3. Carry out a food relief exercise targeting 9,000 families each having approximately 6 members. Please pray for this organisation in Kenya.

My precious mother has always been really active and does so much for others, but has struggled with lower back pain this year. Just found out at 66 that she has scoliosis of the spine, and has been diagnosed with osteoporosis and arthritis. She has had a very hard life, is on a fixed income, and I petition Heaven for her to have a better future! Healed, whole, and that God would send her a wonderful Godly husband with whom she can travel and have FUN. She deserves so much more than what she's had!! I feel guilty that my poor health has negatively impacted her, and that my brother is not living an ideal life either, and yet she has still remained faithful and positive. Her name is Natalie and she lost so much as a Jew when she chose Christ--please pray the Lord's absolute best for her!! No more pain or fatigue. Thank you.

The Gaza siege and shortages of food, medicines, building materials and other supplies has resulted in the children of Gaza working inside the tunnels between Gaza and Egypt through which commodities are being smuggled. A recent report calls for international community's help and support to end the children's misery. Children take one break during the 12 hours' shift and are exhausted, which leads many to take a stimulant called 'Tramal' which helps them forget the pain and revitalizes their bodies, keeping them working without complaints. But at the same time this drug abuse involves serious health complications and side effects. Because of rising poverty after the siege many children stopped going to school. A small number manage to coordinate their times and work while studying. The majority of the children started working almost 1-2 years ago. Ask God to remember the children of Gaza, end their misery and bring a conclusion to the siege. (Lam.3:33). Remind God of His promise to save the children of the needy and bring justice to the poor. (Ps.72:4).

Pray for Giay, Nhang of China

Giay, Nhang of China
The Giay (pronounced "Zay"), are sometimes referred to as the Nhang, a name given to them by the Vietnamese. Giay families are dominated by the males; widows must obey their sons. When a baby is one month old the parents call for a ceremony to inform the ancestors of the birth and to name the baby. They consult horoscopes to determine the fate of the child. The youth are often nonreligious, having received an atheistic education under the communist system. Each village has a "forbidden forest", and twice each year worship of the spirit of the village occurs at the largest tree.

Ministry Obstacles
To follow Jesus among the Giay is to risk offending the spirits of the ancestors, as well as to disrupt the community. There is risk of loss of family and friends.

Outreach Ideas
Han Chinese believers may be able to carry the good news of Jesus to the Giay people. Pray that some will be burdened to do this.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the few hundred Christians among the Giay to live holy lives, honoring Christ with their conduct. Pray they will learn to live in the power of Christ's Spirit, demonstrating love, joy, peace, and all the fruit of the Spirit. Pray they will be faithful witnesses for Christ to family and friends. Pray for evangelists to be raised up from their number.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Giay community to be set free from bondage to the spirits of their ancestors, and to direct their worship toward the One who created them.

Pray for Bhuiya of India

Bhuiya of India
The Bhuiya, a Scheduled Caste, are mainly landless, but a few possess cultivable land. They depend mostly on daily-wage labor, rickshaw-pulling, brick-laying, etc. Their pantheon includes a large number of deities, such as Dihwal, Gorraiyya and Bir Bhairon. Their literacy rate is 4.3%, 1981 census.

Ministry Obstacles
The Bhuiya community speaks well over 30 languages. Evangelistic and church planting outreaches need to accommodate the linguistic subdivisions within the community.

Outreach Ideas
A very low literacy rate requires taking the Gospel of Christ to these people primarily in oral form, using stories from Scripture, as well as Gospel recordings and films, and other visual/oral means.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the handful of Christians among the Bhuiya community, that they will desire to grow in Christ, to become disciples, not merely Christians in name only. Pray they will put on the full armor of God, including the shield of faith.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Bhuiya community to be able to care for their families, and for schools to be available to their children. Pray they will make schooling a high priority.

Scripture Focus
"All nations You have made will come and worship before You, O Lord, they will bring glory to Your Name." Psalm 86:9

PRAY FOR Baloch, Western of Iran

Baloch, Western of Iran
The Baloch are a most ancient semi-nomadic tribal group that eventually occupied an area of land stretching through Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, first settling there between the 5th and 7th centuries. The Baloch have been isolated for many years due to Iran's harsh climate, the difficulty of communicating, and their past reputation as bandits. Balochmayar is the honor code by which the Balochs live. These principles include extending hospitality and mercy, dealing with each other honestly, and offering refuge to strangers. Before the coming of Islam these people probably were Zoroastrians.

Ministry Obstacles
The Baloch may have acquired an incorrect understanding of what Christians believe by observing people who are Christian in name only, not being genuine disciples of Christ.

Outreach Ideas
Christians need to minister to the physical needs of the Baloch, without neglecting their spiritual needs. Both are important.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for purity of doctrine and practice among the few followers of Jesus within the Baloch community. Pray for teachers to help them with doctrinal issues, and for qualified pastors to shepherd them. Pray they will be zealous to learn about Jesus.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for good schools for the children of the Baloch, and especially that low literacy levels will gradually improve. Pray also for employment opportunities for the men.

Scripture Focus
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38

“Counting time is not as important as making time count”. Rom. 13:11 Greetings and have a blessed week. Roberto Wijnhof

An atmosphere of hostility and fear…Constant uncertainty about what tomorrow will hold…Discrimination and persecution in every aspect of your life…

This is what life is like in Eritrea, a country whose human rights record is one of the worst in the world. It’s no wonder that thousands flee the country every year, seeking a better existence. But the tragedy is that what they find can sometimes be worse than what they left behind.

Many countries send Eritrean refugees straight back to the repressive country they tried to escape, which then treats them as traitors. The forcibly returned refugees are often held in appalling prison conditions – even in makeshift prisons such as shipping containers, with hardly any ventilation or space. Please pray for the country of Eritrea, especially for your brothers and sisters there.

Healing from chronic dysentery & colon problems. Thanks & with Gratitude, J. M. C.

Please pray for Cindy, a 17 year old girl, who is lost in live. She was a Christian. Then she became a Gothic and now she is into white magic. Her parents do not know what to do any more.

Praise!

Does God answer prayer? He sure does!

Thank you so much for praying for my precious Mother, Lila Joseph! She was instructed to check into the Hospital for surgery for Cancer on the Kidney. At the first meeting the two Doctors were very clear that it was Cancer.

Mom, though wasn't fazed at all. `I don't know what all the fuss is about - the Lord is going to heal me` she insisted!

The Doctors explained the surgery and what would happen.

Dad chipped in with another comment, `We believe in God and that He heals. If she is healed by tomorrow can the surgery be stopped?` At that the main doctor lost his temper! `This is a hospital!` he thundered! `I am not just a doctor - I teach Doctors`.

He wrote `95-98% Cancer on the official paper and then stormed out of the room! Again, Mom was not fazed!

The next day was the final meeting with the two Doctors. The main Doctor did not show up to the meeting.

Instead the assistant came and was quite flustered. `I don't know how to explain this` he said. `This is very unusual, but we have not been able to find any Cancer` he said. It was no wonder the main Doctor did not show up!

Mom? She sat there with a `I told you so` look!

Does God answer prayer? He sure does!

What is faith? Faith is believing that what God says is more important than what the Doctor says! Halellujah!

Are you struggling with something in your life? God still answers prayer and as John Wesley said `The promises of God are equal to current coin` - the promises of God are reality!

Thank you so much for praying! Ken Joseph Jr.

Pray for Chinese Christian sentenced to fifteen years in prison. Alimujiang Yimiti, a Uyghur Christian, was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, apparently for his faith. The official charge of “revealing state secrets” follows Alim’s arbitrary detention since January 2008.Wusiman Yaming is a Christian leader among the Uyghur people who was featured in our China prayer pack. Your prayers have borne fruit, as he has finally been released after completing a two year prison sentence! Pray for his safety.

Every witchcraft gathering assigned to enforce failure in my life, be scattered, in the name of Jesus. My blessings, hear the words of the Lord, do not pass me by, in the name of Jesus. Anointing that melts away hindrances, fall upon me now.

O Lord, let every plan and activity of the enemies in my domain, be exposed and openly disgraced, in the name of Jesus. O God, arise, and let my stubborn enemies scatter, in the name of Jesus. Every evil agreement for my sake, scatter by fire.

Thanks, Sasha

Please pray for my daughter who is living in Austria. She was a Christian before, but left His way. Pray that she will find the way back to Him again. Sis. E.K.

Please pray for Sibo, a twelve year old young boy. He has cancer and just last week the doctors told him there was no cure for him anymore. We just went to his house and prayed with him. He needs a lot of prayers, but he believes Jesus is able to heal him completely.

God Seeking Worshippers

God Seeking Worshippers
By Horatius Bonar

For ages before God sought a temple, He had been seeking worshippers. He could do without the former, but not without the latter.

His first sanctuary was but a tent; and three thousand years had elapsed before He said, Build me a house wherein I may dwell. Yet all this time He was seeking for worshippers amongst the sons of men. By man’s sin God had lost the worship of earth, and He had set Himself to regain it.

1. He wants LOVE. Being the infinitely loveable God, He asks love from man – from every man; love according to His worth and beauty.

2. He claims OBEDIENCE. For His will is the fountainhead of all law; and He expects that this will of His should be in all things conformed to.

3. He expects SERVICE. The willing and living service of man’s whole being is what He claims and desires, – the service of body, soul, and spirit.

4. He asks for WORSHIP. He does not stand in need of human praise or prayer; yet He asks for these, He delights in these, He wants the inner praise of the silent heart. He wants the uttered praise of the fervent lip and tongue. He desires the solitary praise of the closet; and still more the loud harmony of the great congregation; for ”the Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob,” (Psa 87:2).

True praise is a ”speaking well of God”, (1 Peter 1:3), speaking of Him in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, according to His excellency. ”Bless the Lord, O my soul” (Psa 103:1), ”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph 1:3). It was of ”worship” that the Lord spoke so much to the woman of Sychar. To Nicodemus He said nothing of this; nor indeed to any others.

It was in regard to ”worship” that the Samaritans had gone so far astray, therefore He speaks specially of this, – even to this poor profligate. He spoke to her of ”the Father,” and of ”the worship of the Father” (John 4:21); reminding her that God was a spirit and that ”they who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” And then He adds these memorable words, ”the Father seeketh such to worship Him.”

It was of the difference between outward and inward religion, between the real and the unreal, between the acceptable and the unacceptable, that He spoke to the woman. Samaria and Jerusalem, Gerizzim and Moriah, these were but external things. There was no religious virtue connected with them; God is not the God of the outward, but of the inward; not the God of places, but of living creatures; not the God of cities and mountains, but the God of hearts and souls. No rites, however numerous or gorgeous or beautiful, can be a substitute for the life and the spirit. The question is not intellectual, or aesthetic, or pictorial, but spiritual; not as to what gratifies our eye or ear, our sense of the great or the tasteful, but what is acceptable to God and according to His instructions.

Where am I to worship God? man asks; but he answers it in his own way; as all false religions, and indeed some true ones, have done. On certain sacred spots, he says, where some man of God has lived, where some martyr’s blood has been shed, where the footsteps of good men are recorded to have been, which have been consecrated by certain priestly rites, – there and there only must men worship God. God’s answer to the question, Where am I to worship God? is, EVERYWHERE: on sea and land, vale or hill, desert or garden, city or village or moor, – anywhere and everywhere. For certain purposes God set apart Sinai for a season, and then Moriah; but not to the exclusion of other places. And even these consecrations are at an end. Sinai is but the old red granite hill, – no more, – where now no man worships. Moriah is but the old limestone platform, now desecrated by false worship. ”Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father” (John 4:21).

When am I to worship God? man asks; but he answers it in his own way also. Only at certain times, he says, – certain hours, and certain days, fixed and arranged by priestly authority, or ecclesiastical law, or traditional rule. God’s answer is, ”at all times and seasons”: pray without ceasing. The naming of certain hours and days is necessary for the gathering together of the worshippers; but worship is to be perpetual, without restriction of times. All hours are holy; all days are holy, in so far as worship is concerned; only one day having been specially appointed of God, and that not for restriction but for order.

How am I to worship God? man asks; and he has answered it also in his own way. In the gorgeous temple, in the pillared cathedral, with incense, and vestments, and forms, and ceremonies, and processions, and postures, he says. But these performances are the will-worship of self-righteousness, not the obedient service of men worshipping God in ways of His own ordination. Man cannot teach man how to worship God. When he tries it he utterly fails. He distorts worship; he misrepresents God, and he indulges his own sensuous or self-righteous tastes. His ”dim religious light” is but a reflection of his own gloomy spirit, and an ignorant misrepresentation of Him ”who is light, and in whom is no darkness at all.”

God’s answer to man’s question is given in the Lord’s words, ”they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” The vestments may or may not be comely; that matters not. The music may or may not be fine: the knees may or may not be bent; the hands may or may not be clasped; the place of worship may or may not be a cathedral, or a consecrated fabric. These are immaterial things; adjuncts of religion, not its essence. The true worship is that of the inner man; and all things else are of little moment. As it is with love so it is with worship. The heart is everything. God can do without the bended knee, but not without the broken heart.

It is of the Father that Christ is here speaking; – of Him whose name is not only God but Father, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. As the fountainhead of all being in heaven and in earth, the paternal Creator, the Father of spirits, the great Father-spirit, the God of the spirits of all flesh, whom the heaven of heavens cannot contain, yet who visiteth earth in His fatherly love, – as such He is here spoken of by our Lord. He is a spirit, yet He is no vague or cold abstraction, no mere assemblage of what we call attributes, but full of life and love; with the heart of a Father, with the pity and power and care of a Father, and also with all a Father’s resources and rights. Though we have broken off from that Father and gone into the far country, that does not change His paternal nature, though it alters our relationship to Him and the treatment we are to receive at His hands. He made the fatherly heart of man, and He did so after the likeness of His own. That fatherly heart yearns over His wandered family; ”His tender mercies are over all His works.” It is as Father that he is seeking worshippers, and seeking them here on earth among the fallen sons of men.

He seeketh! That word means more than it seems. He is in search of something; of something which He has lost; of something which He counts precious; of something which He cannot afford to lose. Great as He is, there are many things which He cannot think of letting go. His very greatness makes Him needy for it makes Him understand the value, not only of every soul which He has formed, but of every atom of dust which He has created. When He misses any part of His creation He goes or sends in search of it; He will not part with it. Men of common souls, when they lose anything, are apt to say, Let it go, I can do without it. Men of great minds, when they lose anything, say, I must have it back again, I cannot afford to lose it. Much more is this true of the infinite Jehovah. It is His greatness that makes Him so susceptible of loss. Others may overlook the lost thing. He cannot. He must go in quest of it.

It is the same kind of seeking and searching as the prophet Ezekiel, speaking in the name of Jehovah, declares, – ”I will search and seek,” (34:11); and to which our Lord so often refers, when He represents Himself as ”seeking the lost” (Luke 19:10); it may be the lost sheep, or the lost piece of silver, or the lost son.

We must not dilute these expressions, and say that they simply imply that God is willing to have us back again if we will come; that He is willing to take us as worshippers if we will come. All that comes very far short of the meaning. And though we may say, what can the infinite Jehovah be in want of; what can He need, to whom belongs not only the heaven of heavens but the whole universe; – still we must see how anxious He is to show us His unutterable earnestness in seeking and in searching.

Such is the attitude of God! He bends down from His eternal throne to seek; as if the want of something here on earth, on this old sinful earth, would be a grievous and irreparable loss. What value does He attach to us and to our worship! Yes, the Father seeketh worshippers! He is in search of many things of which sin has robbed Him; affection, homage, allegiance, reverence, obedience; but worship, – the worship of man, and of man’s earth, He is specially seeking and claiming. He so created this world, that from it there should arise, without ceasing, wide as the universal air, that fragrance of holy worship, from the creatures which He had made and placed upon its surface. The command is not merely, ”Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,” but ”thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve.”

Over this broken command He mourns; ”it grieves Him at His heart”; and He seeks to have it restored in man. He loves worship from human hearts and lips, and He will not be satisfied without it. It might seem a small thing to lose the worship of a creature’s heart, here on this low and evil earth. Can He not let it go? It will only be the worse for the creature, not for Him, who has the worship of heaven, and of ten thousand times ten thousand angels. No; He cannot lose that worship. It is precious to Him. He must have it back.

O man, God speaks to you and says, ”Worship me.” He comes up to each sinner upon earth and says, ”Worship me.” If He does so, He must care for you and He must care for your worship. It is not a matter of indifference to Him whether you worship Him or not. It concerns Him, and it concerns you. Perhaps the thought comes up within you, what does God care for my worship? I may praise, or I may not, what does He care? I may sing, or I may blaspheme, what does it matter to Him? He cares much. It concerns Him deeply. He is thoroughly in earnest when He asks you to worship Him. He wants these lips of yours, that tongue of yours, that heart of yours. He wants them all for Himself. Will you give Him what He wants? You say He has enough of praise in heaven, what can he want on earth? He has angels in myriads to praise Him, does He really desire my voice? Will He be grieved if I refuse it? Yes, He desires your voice, and He will be grieved if you withhold it. He has many a nobler tongue than yours, but still He wants yours. He has many a sweeter voice than yours, still He is bent on having that poor sinful voice. Oh come and worship me, He says.

This answers the question so often put by the inquiring, What warrant have I for coming to God. God wants you. Is not that enough? What more would you have? He wants you to draw near. He has no pleasure in your distance. He wants you to praise Him, to worship Him. He is seeking your worship. Do you mean to ask, What warrant have I for worshipping God? Rather should you ask, What warrant have I for refusing to worship Him? Is it possible that you can think yourself at liberty not to worship Him; nay, think that you are not under any obligation to worship Him, until you can ascertain your election, or feel within you some special change which you can consider God’s call to worship Him?

His search for worshippers is a world-wide one. It goes over the whole earth; and His call on men to worship is equally universal. He made man to worship and to love; can He ever forego such claims, or can man ever be in a position in which that claim ceases, or that obligation is cancelled? Can his sinfulness or unworthiness exempt him from the duty, or make it unwarrantable in him to come and worship Jehovah? Let us hear how He speaks to the sons of men, Jew and Gentile:

”Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands! Sing forth the honour of His name, Make His praise glorious.” (Psa 66:1)

Again He speaks,
”O sing unto the Lord a new song;
Sing unto the Lord, all the earth!
Sing unto the Lord,
Bless His name!
Show forth His salvation from day to day.” (Psa 96:1)

Again He speaks,
”Praise ye the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises unto our God;
For it is pleasant;
Yea, praise is comely.” (Psa 147:1)

Nay, He calls on all nature to praise Him. He claims the homage of the inanimate creation.
”Let the heavens rejoice,
And let the earth be glad;
Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein;
Then shall the trees of the wood rejoice Before the Lord.” (Psa 96:11-13)

Thus is God seeking for worshippers here on earth. And what is His gospel but the proclamation of His gracious search for worshippers? He sends out His glad tidings of great joy, that He may draw men to Himself and make them worshippers of His own glorious self.

The shepherd loses one of his flock; and he misses it. The shepherd misses the sheep more than the sheep misses the shepherd. The sheep is too precious to be lost. It must be sought for and found; whatever toil or peril may be in the way. Even life itself is not to be grudged in behalf of the lost one, ”The good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep,” as if the life of the sheep were more valuable than that of the Shepherd.

The woman loses one of her ten silver pieces, she cannot afford to lose it. She must have it back again. She seeks till she find it. It does not miss her, but she misses it. She seeks and finds! The father loses his son; and is troubled. The son may not miss the father, but the father misses the son; nor can he rest till he has taken him in his arms again, and set him down at his table with gladness and feasting.

But the passage we are considering brings before us something beyond all this. It is not the shepherd seeking his sheep, nor the woman her silver, nor the father his son; it is Jehovah seeking worshippers! and He is in earnest. He wants to be worshipped by the sons of Adam. He desires the worship of earth no less than that of heaven. He has the praise of angels, but He must have that of men. Such is the value He sets upon us, and such is His love?

But it is spiritual worship, and spiritual worshippers that He is seeking: ”The Father seeketh such to worship Him.” The outward man is nothing, it is the inner man He is in quest of. The worship must come, not from the walls of the temple, but from the innermost shrine. It must be something pervading the man’s whole being, and coming up from the depths of the soul; otherwise, it is but as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. Forms, sounds, gestures, dresses, ornaments, are not worship. They are but ”Mouth-honour breath, Which the poor heart would fain deny, but dare not.” Instead of constituting worship, these outward things are often but excuses for refusing the inward service.

Man pleases himself with a sensuous and theatrical externalism, because he hates the spiritual and the true. God says, ”Give me thine heart.” Man says, ”No; but I will give you my voice.” God says, ”Give me thy soul.” Man says, ”No; but I will give Thee my knee and my bended body.” But it will not do. ”God is a spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” But what provision has God made for all this? It is not enough to say to us, ”Be worshippers,” – this might be said to the unsinning, and they would at once comply. ”Let all the angels of God worship Him.” But say this to a sinner, and he will ask, ”How can I, a man of unclean lips and unclean heart, approach the infinitely holy One? It would not be safe in me to come, nor would it be right in God to allow me to approach.” There must be provision for this; – something which will satisfy the sinner’s conscience, remove the sinner’s dread, win the sinner’s confidence, on the one hand, and satisfy God, vindicate righteousness, magnify holiness, on the other.

For this there is the twofold provision of the blood and the Spirit. The blood satisfies God’s righteousness and the sinner’s conscience. The Holy Spirit renews the man, so as to draw out his heart in worship. It is the blood that propitiates, and it is the Spirit that transforms. God presents this blood freely to the sinner; God proclaims His desire to give this Spirit freely.

”May I use this blood?” perhaps one says. Use it! Certainly. Thou fool, why shouldst thou ask such a question? Use it! Yes; for thou must either use it, or trample on it. Which of these wilt thou do? ”May I expect the Spirit?” some one may say. Expect Him! What! art thou more willing to have the Spirit than God is to give Him? Art thou so willing, and God so unwilling? Thou fool, who has persuaded thee to believe such a lie?

God has come to thee, O man! saying, ”I want thee for a worshipper”: wilt thou become one? Remember, thou must either be a worshipper or a blasphemer; which wilt thou be?

“It is not what you have in your pocket, but what you have in your heart”.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 God gave us so much wealth, lets enjoy ourselves in it. Have a wondrous weekend full of joy. Roberto Wijnhof.

When you work in Correctional facilities for as long as I have (12 years) you tend to become slightly blasé about your surroundings. Walking through a prison to me is no different than walking through a shopping mall. But every now and then one gets an unexpected reminder. Just the other day one of the Correctional Officers was stabbed in Pollsmoor Prison, Cape Town by one of the offenders. It brought home the reality that the place in which we work can be very dangerous. Does that stop our work? Absolutely not! That just gives us even more reason to continue what we are doing. It is for this very reason that we live and breathe. Changing the life of a petty criminal is great and it may just stop another loaf of bread from being stolen, but when the life of a murderer, gangster or rapist is changed, we prevent another LIFE from being taken or destroyed. The Correctional officer is in recovery. Pray against the stabbings of Correctional Officers in Pollsmoor Prison and any jail known to you. Pray for the protection of Correctional Officers against any act of violence. Pray that Correctional Officers will stand for justice and not perform any act of corruption or bribery.

According to a new report released by Save the Children, up to 175 million children every year could be affected by natural disasters resulting from climate change within the next decade. Disasters such as floods, cyclones and droughts, as well as a dramatic increase in malnutrition and disease, could have a devastating impact if something is not done to curb the effects of climate change. We are already seeing the results of climate change in the high number of natural disasters that have hit the Asia-Pacific region over the last few months. We must continue to pray for these countries as they face the huge challenge of rebuilding their communities physically, emotionally and spiritually. Pray for the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Copenhagen from 7-18 December 2009. Pray those world leaders would be passionate about and active in combating climate change, and that they would truly understand the implications of what would happen if they did not do so. Pray for the communities in all the following countries - Samoa, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia and others who have been affected by natural disasters.

I need healing for congestive heart failure and prayer for shortness of breath and pain. Mrs. L.

Please pray for a miracle for my husband who has been diagnosed with emphysema. L.

Please pray for Leah, she is having stomach problems, also pray for Joy, she is to have surgery coming up in the next couple of days. Thank you. Mrs. K.

Let every song of sorrow in my life be turned to songs of joy, in Jesus name. Every good thing you promised me for this year, they shall not pass me by, in Jesus name. I will not fail, because Jesus never fails.

Let every door of attack on my spiritual progress be closed, in Jesus' name. Holy Spirit, set me on Fire for God. I command all my imprisoned benefits to be released, in Jesus' name. Lord anoint me to pull down negative strongholds standing against me. S.

Please pray for Nina, she needs strength to recover from the difficult time she is going through right now. That her mind may be renewed and she will be totally free of every wrong voice she is hearing. That the love of Christ may fill her completely.

Please pray for my granddaughter of 11. She is extremely aggressive and doesn’t not obey at all. When I observe her I can see she is different than other kids. It looks like it is demonic. Please pray for her deliverance. That she will be free and will be able to be the kid Jesus wants her to be. Also for her parents, that they will be saved. Sis. S.L. Suriname.

“When we put our problems into God’s hands, He puts His peace into our hearts”. Psalm 37:7. Greetings and blessings, Roberto Wijnhof

Please pray for a person at work who treats others in a snotty and sometimes harsh way. She is the financial officer, and is a hard core Baptist. But we can see a lot of controlling spirit and a bit of bitterness in her. Please pray for the Lord to bring her to complete repentance. C.

Kim Wu-Yeong*, a refugee from North Korea, has seen terrible things in that country. It’s incredibly painful for him to remember seeing the execution of three young fellow Christians, who had fled to China, but were caught and executed because they had “betrayed the regime”. Kim Wu-Yeong told CSW that “Christianity is public enemy number one in North Korea.”

Pray for freedom to the people of North Korea, it is vital that Kim Wu-Yeong, and others like him, have a chance to tell their stories so that the world is aware of their suffering and able to speak up for them.

The more of us who join together, the greater the impact. Together we will raise our voices to call for freedom!

Would you please say a prayer for me usually I write once a week but I do not know if it is the pneumonia or what but I been going through a lot of warfare and the prayer would give me strength. GOD richly bless you. Brother Danny

The world knows that presidential election times in Togo are still very bloody as the eternal government in power since 1967 and his members do not want to leave, and they use to pass by every bad terrorism way to keep the power. They used to abuse the citizens, to kill them, to rape our wives, mothers and sisters, to beat, to send people to exile...
So may you please pray the Almighty God to stop all criminal people who are working against the destiny of Togolese and Togo itself, to push them to repentance, to push the not repentable criminals to eternal perdition, and to send back to the hell, for ever, every bad spirit who took flesh and are acting in Togo as authorities. Pray for dignity, peace and joy for my dear Togo and for every Togolese in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. May you please pray hard for the citizens of my beloved Country Togo, to be born again in Jesus Christ, to come before God Almighty through our daily prayers, to know Jesus-Christ as their only Lord and Saviour, seeking His face nights and days concerning the future of our nice Country. Pray the Lord to appoint men and women full of Godly character to lead my dear Togo. (Pastor John Bright Lightson)

“Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops yourself”. Proverbs 14:21

Lets pour it on! Have a happy weekend, Roberto Wijnhof.

An International Mission Board (Southern Baptist) missionary working with an unreached people group in Central Asia was looking for some "good soil" in which to share the gospel, but he seriously doubted that he had found such when he hired "Bruce" (from the unreached people group) to work for him. Bruce continued to work for him and they became good friends. Bruce confided in his new friend that his life was in turmoil: his father had just died, he had marital problems and he drank excessively. Unexpectedly, Bruce told the missionary that his father had always wanted a copy of the New Testament. The missionary replied that he is willing to share his own one. As he did so, Bruce was drawn to the passages about Jesus. Bruce then began asking questions: "How can I make my marriage work? How can I stop drinking so much?" His questions were leading Bruce to Jesus. Bruce delighted his friend when he told him that he wanted to believe in Jesus. As Bruce sincerely trusted Jesus, patterns in his life began to change. Pray for God to use the lives and testimonies of Bruce and others from his people group to reach his Muslim neighbours for Jesus. Pray that all efforts of Satan to stop God's work among this group will be frustrated.

Pray immediately that God would bring to our church a Christian printer, graphics art businessman and a separate web designer and computer specialist that will become long term church members and voluntarily help us with all our church urgent needs.

For my family and myself please pray that: God will daily destroy any weapon formed against my family and myself and daily raise up his standard against the enemy for family, myself, Church & Food Co-Op.

Daily the kingdom of God would come wherever I & family go & at Church & Food Co-Op.

Daily every member of my family would love Jesus with all their hearts, (going to church and Christian Fellowship) follow Him and fulfil their callings in God. A.J.

I am teaching in elementary grades. Most of my parents don't have christ in their life. Please pray for me that God will use me for his glory that I'll be able to share them the gospel of salvation. I praise God for giving me my calling. Pray for a spirit of repentance to come upon the church in Russia and purge it of all unrighteousness and self-serving, and that the Holy Spirit would have His way. Pray that God would send more labourers here. Sasha.

A major study has concluded that children who receive ‘tough love'– a combination of warmth and discipline – from their parents have the best chance of doing well in life. The study found that parenting style, not economic background, is the most important factor determining a child's development of positive qualities such as self-control, empathy and determination. It also discovered that children with married parents were twice more likely to show these key traits than children living with step-families or single parents. Please pray that the realisation that a balanced way of discipline is essential for the well-being of children. (Deut.11:19).

Praise God in advance for giving me favor with my landlord and his wife. Let's declare that all of their wrong behavior is cancelled, in Jesus name.Prayer for Alex, Kiril, Stanislav and their salvation. I ask God to bring the right people to mую.

My family members, who are satanists, are threatening me and bearing false witness against me. Pray for the healing of my wounded heart and comfort for my mind. I'm attacked by cold symptoms, pain, infection. I ask God for continued protection.

Please pray for my job situation where people are getting scared and upset over the possibility of a major investigation that has not even started yet and that one guy keeps saying people might go to prison after investigation. We have done a lot of things correctly, but this man brought in from another plant in the company is getting people upset.

Please pray for the Lord's complete intervention to make things work out right, that everyone will settle down, that no one will go to prison, and that the top level people will understand what truly needs to be done to assure that nothing wrong is done here.

We have seen the hand of the Lord move mightily here before and know that He can work this all out.

A recent report has shown that more than 10 children in Guatemala die every week as a result of violence, 52% of these from gunshot wounds. Gang culture and drug dependency are common occurrences, and there are an average of 17 murders a day in the country, most of them attributable to youth gangs and organised crime. 29% of children aged five to fourteen are involved in child labour and are being sent out to work in difficult and dangerous conditions. Early Encounters, a Viva project run in partnership with Toybox, is working with families whose children are potentially at risk of becoming street children, to prevent them from ending up on the streets. They also work with children who may be relatively new to life on the streets, who may still be in contact with members of their family, in order to reunite them with their parents or other relatives. Praise God for Early Encounters and the success that they have seen so far in Guatemala. It is estimated that over 200 children are attending activities arranged by the project, and up to 100 may have been taken off the streets this year. Pray for the continued success of the project. Pray for relationships to be formed between families and project workers, in order that more families can be reached by Early Encounters to prevent children ending up on the streets.

Jordania (4,8 juta), Ibukota Amman (1,4 juta), agama: Islam 94%, Ortodoks 2,7%, Katolik 1,5%, Kristen 0,5%.
Afghanistan (30 juta), Ibukota Kabul (3 juta). Agama Islam secara radikal, semua agama lain dilarang keras. Baik pemerintahan maupun pemberontak Taliban melawan kekristenan.

Mendoakanlah para petugas toko buku, agar mereka dilindungi.
India (1,2 milyard), Ibukota Delhi (11 juta), Agama: Hindu 81%, Islam 13%, Budhis 0,8%, Sikh 1,1%, Katolik 1%, Kristen 1,5%, dll.
Nepal: (24 juta), Ibu kota Kathmandu (0,6 juta), agama: Hindu 80%, Budhis 10%, Islam 4,5%, Kristen 1,9% (l.k. 500 ribu). Kel.
Kel.
Laos (6,2 juta), Ibukota Vientiane (0,7 juta), Budhis 58,7%, Animism 33%, tanpa agama 5,1%, Islam 1%, Katolik 1%, Kristen 1%, hanya agama Budhis dan Animism diperbolehkan, semua agama lain dilarang keras.
Vietnam (87 juta), Ibukota Hanoi (2,3 juta), Ho Chi Minh City (7 juta), tetap paham komunis. Agama Budhis 55%, Katolik 5%, Kristen 0,8 juta.
Pilipina (90 juta), Ibukota Manila (1,7 juta), agama: Katolik 83%, Islam 8%, Protestant 7,5%, dll. Kel. Pdt.
Malaysia (27,5 juta), Ibukota Kuala Lumpur (2,2 juta), agama: Islam 55%, Budhis 29%, Hindu 7%, Kristen 4%, Katolik 3,5%. Doakan Kel. Sim yang memimpin dua jemaat. Doakan program Misi gereja SIB Petaling Jaya. Sekarang gereja ini makin maju dalam misi. Kel. Pdt. Seken Bangun di Kota Sandakan/Malaysia Timur menjangkaui berbagai suku di Kota Sandakan.
Asia Tengah
Azerbaijan (8,7 juta), Ibu kota Baku (2 juta). Agama Islam (sebagian besar Syiah) 80%, Kristen 0,1%.
Badan P.I.
Tajikistan (6.8 juta), Ibu kota Dushambe (0.6 juta). Agama Islam 89%, tanpa agama 9%, Ortodoks 1.2%. Kristen 0.03%.
Kazakhstan (16 juta), Ibukota Astana (0.7 juta), kota Almaty (1.2 juta), Agama Ortodoks 39 %, Islam 56%, Kristen 2%.

Asia Utara & Pasifik
Korea Utara (23 juta), Ibukota Pyongyang (2.7 juta).
